Ascii Aliens is a series of augmented ASCII art, presenting machine-generated portraits that depict allegedly real ETs. The work emerges from an act of mistranslation, wherein standardized digital code metamorphoses into cryptic, barely legible glyphs reminiscent of those found on allegedly real UFOs. Executed with green pen on black paper, they have the speculative hue of “little green men” and of the digital landscapes of bygone conspiracy forums dedicated to the discussion of them.
